Putting the South Yorkshire initiative into the national context and “Digital Britain”. Steve will talk on the wider benefits of the innovative use of ICT in terms of meeting economic, social, environmental and improved service delivery.

Sets the EU context and the future dirction within which the digital region can prosper – “A Strategy for ICT R&D and Innovation in Europe: Raising the Game”
What is planned next in terms of large scale demonstrations, pan-European interoperability and the increasingly important topic of identity management. This shared vision is one in which local organisations will find themselves operating within and to their advantage if recognised early.

Applications already selected to demonstrate secure messaging service, based on authentication of identity, time-stamping and archival facilities, removing obstacles and enabling more applications to be put online. EASY has the opportunity to demonstrate several applications locally having a budget allocated from this project.
